Our Rabbi
Rabbi: Caryn B. Broitman
Rabbi Broitman began her tenure as Rabbi of the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center in 2003. Some of her interests include: religion and literature, interfaith and multi-faith dialogue, and faith-based approaches to issues of justice and human rights.Rabbi Broitman's vision for the Hebrew Center is to be a community of Jewish learning, spiritual growth, community connection and social responsibility for issues both locally and globally.
On her free time Rabbi Caryn loves to spend time with her family; read literature and poetry; cook (and eat) Middle Eastern Food; and walk, bike and Kayak around our beautiful Island.

Sharon Kleinberg, 1st Vice President
Sharon received her MSW from Wurzweiler School of Social Work at the Yeshiva University. She had a clinical practice for over 20 years. Sharon has been an active member of the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center for 12 years working on many committees including chairing the Program and Adult Education Committee for the past 6 years.
Our Lay Staff

Sally Cohn has been doing production work, event planning, fundraising and development for organizations for over 25 years. Sally is happy to be working at the MVHC.
Lori Sue Herman Education Director
As Director, Lori Sue Herman and her staff maintain a high standard of Jewish education. We look forward to a year filled with collaborative learning in the classroom, in the synagogue and in our homes.

Max Jasny has been actively involved in the Hebrew Center for twenty years, serving as Minhag Committee Chair, Trustee, and vice president. He has led lay services and taught in the Religious School. He brings to his job years of experience in office and business administration, computer skills, and customer service. Max has also worked as a social worker and scientist.

Toni joins the Hebrew Center with many years of Administrative experience. She enjoyed a career in education for over thirty years. As Director of Community Relations and Service Learning
for the PA Virtual Charter School in Pennsylvania, her programs were the connecting, common thread in the diverse fabric of the school community. She served in her local community in various capacities, including Burlington County Commissioner and an elected member of the Burlington City School Board, where she advocated for the education and future of the children and families of Burlington City, NJ. Retiring to the Vineyard in 2016, with a heart to serve, she is a member of several Island organizations and comes to The Hebrew Center with a passion for event planning and is known to find delight in the details.
